William Warburton to Philip Doddridge, Northampton, 28 May 1741.
May 28 1741
Dear Sir,
This day sennight Mr Gyles gave to Mr Fowler himself the remaining sheets which I suppose you may have recd by this time
After an extreme fatiguing journey on ye stage Coach with very indifferent company increased by worse taken upon ye road I reach’d the Gyles’ between 8 and 9 last night.
I have abundance of thanks to return for the very friendly entertainment I met with at Northampton from you & your excellent spouse. I must tell you frankly you have more happiness than comes to ye share of one man, & to make it the more exquisite of several various kinds. Providence has treated you with a feast of many courses: which none but a good Levite under ye old Law when the Dispensation was exact could fairly pretend to. That you may long enjoy every part of it especially that last & best which shares & doubles all the rest is the earnest prayer of Dear Sir your most affectionate Brother & Friend W. Warburton
